Food servers are responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences by greeting guests, taking accurate food and beverage orders, delivering orders promptly, and processing payments. They must possess extensive menu knowledge to make recommendations, handle customer complaints professionally, maintain table cleanliness, and adhere to safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Customer Service: Greeting guests, presenting menus when no host is on duty, answering questions about ingredients, and making recommendations.
• Order Management: Accurately taking food and drink orders and entering them into the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Service Delivery: Delivering food and beverages from the bar and kitchen to tables promptly.
• Table Maintenance: Checking on guests to ensure satisfaction, refilling drinks, and pre-busing tables throughout the meal.
• Payment Processing: Presenting checks, handling cash or credit transactions, and providing receipts.
• Cleaning & Setup: Setting up tables with linens and cutlery, and cleaning dining areas/serving stations.
• Communication: Communicating special dietary needs or allergies to kitchen staff.
Requirements:
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Strong communication and multitasking skills.
• Basic math skills for handling payments
• Arrive on time, in full clean uniform.
• Maintain personal hygiene (clean nails, tidy hair, minimal fragrance).
• Consistent execution of the Two Minute Rule – newly seated guests should always be greeted within this timeframe.
• Upselling – our Servers are not simply “order takers”. Considerable revenue (and gratuity) is generated by suggesting soups, salads, appetizers, deserts and entrée upgrades.
• Ability to work efficiently with support staff (bussers, runners, bartenders and barbacks) – without relying exclusively on them.
Complete monthly cleaning check list when it doesn’t interfere with guest service — secondary, not primary.
